Simple to make but very tasty. I make this every Thanksgiving.
- 1 celery stalk, diced small
- 2 onion slices, diced small
- 3/4 cup chicken broth or turkey broth
- 1 1/2 tsp dried parsley
- 1/8 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 8 slices bread, cut into 1/2 squares. No crust.
- 2 tsp canola oil
Dry bread by putting on cookie sheet into 250 deg oven for 30 minutes (middle rack).
In a medium sauce pan, sweat celery, onions in 1 tsp oil. Pour in 1 tsp oil, then mix seasonings in oil and cook for 20 seconds. Stir in broth. Boil then simmer 10 minutes, covered.
Add bread cubes and mix well. Turn off heat and let sit 7 minutes, covered.
