Cooking Wild Rice

Wild rice is a grain, not rice. I have served this many times and it has always gone over well.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)

Hardware

  • 2 quart baking dish

Directions

Rinse wild rice.
Combine rice and broth in baking dish. Cover and bake in oven at 325 degrees F for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Doug's Notes

I have used 1/2 cup wild rice and 1/2 cup long-grain white rice successfully.
Soaking overnight will reduce cooking time by a few minutes.
